Quartz watches, such as some but not all models made by Cartier, Tiffany and Bulgari are remarkably easy to maintain as they typically only require a new battery from time to time. Some jewelers recommend proactively servicing even a quartz watch to check the gaskets, clean the case and bracelet and to replace the battery every one to two years as leaky batteries can require a more involved service.

Watch cases, if made of gold or other precious material should wear well over time, but as with all precious metals, it is wise to treat them gently to prevent scratching. When not on your wrist, always lay your watch down on its side to protect the crystal face which can be scratched if rubbed against the bracelet or other hard material. Humidity, moisture and direct sunlight all contribute to wear and tear so whenever possible keep your quartz watch dry and wipe the bracelet occasionally with a clean soft cloth to remove accumulated dirt and oil.
