Verdura
The House of Verdura was founded in 1939 by Fulco Santostephano della Cerda, the Duke of Verdura after working with Coco Chanel in Paris and Paul Flato in New York, with stores in New York and Paris. Verdura's original designs were famous for his colored precious and semiprecious stones set in gold.
Later his designs became even more original with his creative use of unusual materials and whimsical motifs. Iconic Verdura designs include the wrapped and bowed heart, animal brooches using diamonds, enamel and baroque pearls, gold "rope' bracelets and necklaces, shell brooches and earrings encrusted with diamonds and gemstones, diamond winged gemstone brooches and of course the Maltese cross encrusted with gemstones.
Currently, the house of Verdura continues to make jewelry based on Fulco de Verdura's original designs.
