GRIMA JEWELRY

Grima

Signed Grima Tourmaline and Diamond Ring Andrew Grima (1921-2007) was an award winning jewelry designer for the British Royal Family in the 1960s and 1970s, famous for his innovative modern designs and bold use of gold and colored stones. Over time Grima's jewelry developed a signature Modernist style of design, using textured platinum and 18k yellow gold combined with natural minerals and precious gemstones. Grima often used objets trouves or gold castings of natural objects in his organic designs, such as leaves, and placed Grima Abstract Brooch with Diamonds in 18Kmore value on the visual impact of materials as opposed to their intrinsic value, breaking away from the custom of the more classic designs of the time. In addition to making designs commissioned by the British Royal Family, Grima's jewelry designs were worn by legends such as Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy. Opening stores in London, Sidney, Tokyo, New York, Zurich, Lugano and Gstaad, Grima jewelry appealed to a broad international clientele, and in his career, Grima won a total of twelve De Beers Diamond International Awards. His designs have been imitated by many, making a genuine Grima original highly sought after by collectors.
